Once again this was to be a tough match for a Maccabi team which had struggled all year but had been very competitive throughout. If Bradford won the league title was theirs, so could Maccabi spoil the party. Both teams battled in the first half and Bradford created the clearer chances with Maccabi defending resolutely. It took 7 minutes for the deadline to be broken and Bradford didn’t disappoint and after a number of missed shots and saves by Benjamin Fingret, Bradford scored their 2nd with a bullet header from a corner. Maccabi had hoped to create more and did so in the second half, but it was not until Bradford were 6-0 up, one goal coming from a header from their keeper, before Joshua broke away and scored from a great shot. Unfortunately, Bradford went away and scored their last goal of the game to restore the 6 goal margin before Maccabi rallied again and Yehonatan tapped in from on the line to score Maccabi’s second of the game. A third was on the cards but the ball missed the post or was cleared off the line a couple of times. In the end victory was Bradford’s and so was the title

After last week’s convincing victory, Maccabi were in confident mood but soon found themselves in a hard fought battle from the off. Solid marking and a tight midfield kept the game extremely close until midway through the first half when a superb kick from Daniel Ruhan, 15 yards out, lobbed the keeper and fell into the back of the net. The game opened slightly and Long Lee stretched Maccabi on a number of occasions, however the excellent form from today’s man of the match Harry Tedford continued with some excellent saves that even a premiership keeper would have been proud of.
With the first half coming to an end, Maccabi pushed and were fortunate to be awarded a corner taken by Jayden Huglin who curled it into the back of the net. Half Time 2-0. The second half was as tense as the first and the game flowed from end to end. Maccabi were unfortunate on a number of occasions with shots from Joshua Port, Max Adler, Jayden Huglin, Ben Dunwell and Daniel Ruhan either going wide or saved by the opposition keeper. Long Lee pulled one back midway through the second half and the pressure was on. The Maccabi defence of Alex Levy, Alistair Landy, Tommy Gordon, Dion Hall held firm and Harry Tedford again keeping Maccabi in the game. With no time left, Maccabi broke down the left and a smart shot from Max Adler, made it 3-1, which was the final score. A fantastic team effort by the boys and they can all be extremely proud of themselves

Maccabi U11 had a tricky away game at Pool B. The match was keenly contested from the kick off with Pool starting the brighter of the two teams. Some fine play from the home team was rewarded with a goal after only 5 minutes. Maccabi reacted well to the early set back and the boys managed to put together some good passing moves with Joey Castle, Edan Sadeh and Toby Winston combining to good effect. Some sustained Maccabi pressure was eventually rewarded with two well taken goals within a minute for Jonny Sorkin. However Maccabi could easily have had another three or four goals with Castle, Sadeh and Sorkin all narrowly missing the target. Poole were consistently attacking well on the counter and the back line of Rafi Kleiman, Adam Jackson and Ben Silberstein were being put under increasing pressure. They managed to hold out for 15 minutes before Pool equalised with a defense-splitting move. So 2-2 at half-time and everything to play for. The second half saw Pool came out with increased vitality and they took a firm grip on the game with two goals in quick succession. Despite useful contributions from Benjy Goldstone, Sam Addelman and Dominic Samuel, Maccabi found it difficult to create many meaningful chances and Pool eventually ran out worthy 5-2 winners. Keeper Ben Freeman had another good performance and could not be faulted for any of the goals. Overall this was an evenly contested game with the main differnces between the teams being Pool making the most of their scoring opportunities, keeping better possession of the ball and winning more of the 50-50 balls in midfield. Nevertheless the boys deserve credit for a decent performance. Thanks should also go to the supporters for a "record" away attendance for a league game.

This was always going to be a close game between the bottom 2 teams in the league and both teams didn’t disappoint. Maccabi started strongly and for the first 5 minutes put a lot of pressure on the Burley goal with Joshua Borlant going closest with a shot hitting the crossbar. After that Burley possibly created the better chances but never really caused Benjamin Fingret any problems in the Maccabi goal. The half ended level at 0-0. The second half started with both teams creating chances and both keepers called in to action. It took about 10 minutes of the second half before the deadline was broken with a nice finish by Jacob Pliener, his second in two games. This seemed to wake Burley up and they attacked with more vigour and Benjamin had no chance with the equaliser as it past his head. Both teams had chances to secure the 3 points but none could be taken and the resultant draw was a fair result.

Before we blinked, Maccabi were 2-0 down. Three minutes gone and it seemed that a thrashing by the leagues in form team was on the cards.
Maccabi managed to gather momentum and put a handful of decent moves together which resulted in the odd chance falling our way. Jayden Huglin and Max Adler were fantastic in holding the midfield together and some superb play from both of them, with a defence that started to rise to the occasion, kept the score line decent till halftime. After the break and a passionate team talk, the game took on a different pattern. Daniel Ruhan, Jayden Huglin and Max Adler switched it up a little in midfield, Dion Hall, Bradley Cohen and Alex Levy held firm in defence and up front, Ben Dunwell and Ilan Archibold tried in vain to reduce the gap. With both Jayden Huglin and Max Adler bossing the game, Maccabi needed some luck and with some superb play, Jayden unleashed a terrific strike only for the Skipton keeper to make a decent save and in doing so pushed the ball out to Max Adler who neatly slotted home. Pushing for an equaliser left a few gaps and Maccabi were soon chasing the game, Harry Tedford continued his fine from for the season and kept Maccabi in the game with a string of good saves. A good counter attack saw Skipton score a third. Heads never dropped and within minutes Jayden Huglin equalised and set up a tense final 5 minutes in which Maccabi were unlucky not to equalise. Final score, Maccabi 2 Skipton 3. The boys did themselves proud with a passionate and committed second half display – well done!

In the corresponding fixture earlier this season Leeds Maccabi went down 9-0 and so today’s fantastic result shows the improvements made in just one season. For the initial 20 minutes it was nail biting football with end to end play without any goals but some tremendous defence from Captain Toby Winston, Adam Jackson and Dominic Samuel, not forgetting Ben Freeman in goals. Maccabi went 1-0 down when a fierce shot from a corner hit the cross bar and the referee deemed it went over the line. The half time whistle blew and Oakworth knew this was not going to be as easy as before. Within 5 minutes of the restart Maccabi then went 2-0 down to yet another corner. The boys did not let their heads go down and energetic running from Joey Castle, Jonny Sorkin, Benjy Goldstone and Noah Lewis was great to see. The result was a Noah Lewis goal, confidently beating a couple of players to unleash a sweet strike into the back of the net. Now 2-1, Oakworth continued to play some excellent football and scored another goal to make it 3-1. Some great goal kicks on a small pitch from Freeman were making life difficult for Oakworth, yet Maccabi were struggling to capitalise on them and unfortunately Oakworth came back and scored yet another to make it 4-1 with just 5 minutes to play. From a Freeman goal kick, Sorkin took control and struck the ball home to make it 4-2 and the chase was on! Maccabi then scored another goal right from the Oakworth kick off which went through the team with great interplay for Lewis to end up scoring yet another superb goal. 4-3 and the coach was chewing his fist and losing his hair. One minute to play and Goldstone set off a Noah Lewis run with a great through ball which enabled Lewis to run onto goal and calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner for his hat-rick and Maccabi’s 4th goal and crucial equaliser! Fantastic performance from each and every one today! Well done lads, your coach is very proud of you even though he now has less hair J

The U12s league season came to an end with a defeat away at Poppleton With a squad of only 13 the U12s have struggled some weeks but with the help of younger players the team has completed its fixtures, and despite a great start winning the first 3 games, the team has finished in 6th of 8. Despite a 2 goal advantage thanks to early goals from Dan Vale and Taylor Saipe, the lead was soon clawed back and the game was level at 2 v 2 at half time. Poppleton were soon 4 v 2 up although Ben Ruhan pulled one back soon after but Maccabi’s lack of numbers told. Already without subs and with Daniel Green’s ankle injury flaring up, injured spectator Alex Stanley stepped up to the plate and played the last 15 minutes in goal with Jon Gross moving outfield. Poppleton increased their lead to win 5 v 3. Thanks to early season form the team goes head to head with Collingham in next week’s league cup final (at Wetherby FC ground 2pm)

Leeds U14’s march for promotion continued against Otley Town, Sunday. Maccabi came into this match wanting revenge for their cup exit in one of the first games of the season; but as in that game, it proved to be a frustrating morning for U14s who somewhat struggled to find their fine recent form on what was a very hard huge pitch. Maccabi started quite brightly, in what was to be an end-to-end match, and Dan Hirschowitz put them 1-0 up after a dazzling determined run past 3 defenders on the left wing. Minutes later, though, Otley equalised and they went ahead after a stunning free kick soon after the restart. Martin Bowman made a crucial goal-line clearance to keep Maccabi in the game and with 10 minutes to go, Maccabi pushed on to find the elusive equalising goal. With just seconds remaining, James Berwin swung a free-kick into the danger zone and Dan Hirschowitz was first to react to a high bounce and headed over the oncoming keeper to make the score 2-2. It was nothing more than Maccabi deserved and keeps alive their push for the top.

Maccabi 10 Skipton 1
On a sunny Spring morning the pitch was in good condition, and the under 8’s were as well. After dominating the 1st 10 minutes the home side could not find the net with a Skipton keeper in very good form, then Oliver Jacobs provided a cross for Oliver Buck who had returned to the side following an injury lay off to net the 1st. This opened the floodlights and man of the match Reece Freeman scored a hatrick within the next 10 minutes including a thunderbolt into the top right hand corner, Oliver Buck then went onto net his second of the game, at half time the boys led 5-0. The defence again were rock solid with keeper Aaron Brown and Louie Harris in commanding form.
The 2nd half was much the same with an outstanding goal by Sonny with a header following a pin point cross from Jack Booth who then went onto score himself with a left foot shot following a cross from Sonny. As the Skipton heads went down, another goal was scored by Sam Niman who completed a Jack Booth cross over the line. Then Tyler R scored a brace of goals in quick succession, to give the Maccabi boys a 10-0 lead, the home team conceded a late Penalty to give the Skipton boys a deserved consolation goal, an outstanding performance from the boys in all areas.

After a narrow 4-3 loss to Wortley earlier in the season, Leeds Maccabi were up for a decent fight and the first half started at a ferocious pace and despite Leeds playing some attractive football, Worltey stormed into a 3 – 0 lead. Maccabi had some decent efforts with Jayden Huglin hitting the bar and woodwork and Joshua Port narrowly curving a superb strike just wide of the right post. Max Adler played some superb football on the left/right midfield and was also unlucky not to put the ball in the back of the net. Despite rallying strongly, Maccabi soon found themselves 5-0 down at the break. A rousing halftime team talk saw the boys ready for a scrap and Wortley knew they had a different game on their hands. In defence, Alistair Landy, Deon Hall and Tommy Gordon, held strong, Harry Tedford made some wonderful saves throughout and combination of Jayden Huglin, Max Adler and Joshua Port in midfield/attack saw a number of efforts and free kicks going close and just wide A superb attack on the left saw Alistair Landy take the ball down the line and whip in an acute cross which crossed the goal line for his second of the season On the whole the boys played terrific football and were unlucky not to narrow the lead.
Final score 5-1
U11,s
Hi all,
For yesterday's Northern cup semi-final game we travelled to Manchester Maccabi's ground. Due to a lack of numbers we had to start the game with only 10 players on the pitch but were mighty relieved to see the young Max Adler appear after the first minute. This was the boys' first ever 11 a side game on a full size pitch and unsurprisingly they were put under pressure from a much more experienced Manchester side from the outset. But Leeds soaked up the early pressure and looked dangerous on the counter attack. It came as no surprise when the some creative midfield play from Edan Sadeh, Noah Lewis and Joey Castle resulted in Max Adler being put through on goal and he finished superbly slotting the ball past the Manchester keeper to put Leeds ahead. There were chances at both ends and the game was played at a good pace. Manchester were playing well and applied some consistent pressure on the Leeds goal that resulted in a couple of goals before half time. It was always going to be a difficult second half for Leeds due to the fact that we had no available substitutes while the massed ranks on the Manchester side-line ensured that they always had fresh legs available. Manchester scored early in the second half to give them a 3-1 lead but another excellent finish by Max Adler pegged the score back to 3-2. Towards the end fatigue combined with a bit of inexperience and an excellent display from the opposition told and Manchester ran out worthy 5-2 winners but not until Leeds had made a fine game of it.
Fittingly after an all-Jewish affair the Leeds contingent were treated to some excellent post-match nosh kindly provided by Manchester Maccabi.
The team:
Ben Freeman - made some excellent saves in a HUUUGE goal
Dominic Samuel - defended well and made some fine clearances
Ben Silbersein (c) - ran tirelessly and made some vital tackles
Toby Winston - Another fine defensive effort. Good positional play
Rafi Kleiman - defended well and never stopped running
Noah Lewis - An excellent effort and good passing
Joey Castle - Some fine passing and tackling back
Edan Sadeh - A good performance. Ran constantly even when injured
Jonny Sorkin - Another good effort. Some great shots!
Benjy Goldstone - Excellent effort on a difficult day for forwards
Max Adler - Superb effort justly rewarded with 2 fine goals
We would like to say that the boys should all be extremely proud of themselves and gave a super performance against much more experienced opposition.
WELL DONE BOYS!!
Thanks to all the travelling supporters

A better performance from the U12s today in the second half, but too much to do after being 4 v 0 down at half time down and ended on the wrong side of a 6 v 2 against Knaresborough Celtic. Hue had a great game at center back, and the best move of the season brought our second goal from Yuli Gordon after great interplay down the left between Dan Vale, Harry Landy and Ben Ruhan. Vale had notched the first goal but it was too little too late. U12s will finish mid table, but have a division cup final to look forward to.

Maccabi were beaten earlier in the season by Oakworth Wasps but we knew that we could create chances in this game. Oakworth piled on the pressure early on and scored after a few minutes. Maccabi now showing more commitment in the games fought back with a flowing move. Man of the Match, Yehonatan Aibi playing a nice one two with Jacob Pliener and the latter finishing off from outside the area. Both teams created chances during an end to end first half, but scores were level at the whistle. In the second half, both teams were at each other again and Yehonatan was very unlucky as after a great pass from Ross Baskind, his shot hit one post then hit the other post without crossing the line. Oakworth went on the attack and a cross cum shot hit Benjamin Fingret and deflected off his face into the net. Maccabi again did not give up and Yehonatan beat one player before lobbing the keeper to level the scores once again. Oakworth went on to score 3 more quick goals before a hand ball in the area enabled Joshua Borlant to fire home from the spot to give the final result a better look for a battling Maccabi. Final score 3 - 5

Leeds Maccabi Under 10’s started the game brightly with some good link up play from midfield to attack and the continued pressure paid off with Theo Tobias slotting home after a great pass from Jayden Huglin. It was soon 2-0 to Maccabi with Jayden Huglin shooting and Joshua Port following up to put the ball in the back of the net. Max Adler and Joshua Port were unlucky not to increase the lead and as the half wore on, Maccabi took their foot off the pedal and some confusion in defence allowed Wilsden back into the match with the sides going into the break at 2-2.The second half started at a phenomenal pace and the Maccabi midfield controlled from the start. Good link up play from Theo Tobias put Max Adler through who raced through two players to score a scorcher and Maccabi went 3-2 up. With the continued pressure, Maccabi mixed up their corners fantastically and were unlucky not to increase their lead on a number of occasions. Wilsden soon managed to counter and equalised to make it 3-3.
With end to end football taking place, Maccabi’s defence of Alistair Landy and Tommy Gordon held strong. Time was running out before Jayden Huglin picked up the ball in midfield, ran through two players before unleashing a drive from outside the box to score the winner and make it 4-3.

U14- v Whinmoor
An early windy morning saw Maccabi take all the points after a well-fought encounter that required good teamwork and spirit to see off a determined Whinmoor side. Maccabi started very well, and within 12 minutes had gained a 2-goal advantage. A lovely cross from Alex Orbaum on the right saw Henry Abelson rise and glance the ball in off the post – a rare headed goal for the team. Minutes later, this time from the left, Daniel Hirschowitz lobbed a delightful pass into the middle and Zac Bambage, still with a lot to do, coolly slotted into the corner. Harry Goldstone nearly bagged a beauty but his chipped shot inside the area just bounced off the top of the bar. Minutes before the half-time whistle, though, Whinmoor scored with a thunderous strike from outside the box that gave them renewed hope. And a couple of minutes into the 2nd half, it was all level after a mix-up in defence and an unfortunate bobble gave Whinmoor the perfect restart. Henry Abelson, the game’s outstanding player, continued to create opportunities from his wide right position – he was strong in the challenge, using great body strength to get into positions that really he had no right to. He conjured up the third goal, which proved to be the winner – as the ball came out to him on the right, he hit a long-range powerful low shot, wrong-footing the goalie who just managed to get a hand to it and Harry Goldstone stole in to make it 3-2. Soon after, Henry went a fabulous run, with great determination and skill; ending up on the byline he produced a stunning cross, dipping over the keeper, and how Zack Bambage did not convert from a yard out in the middle of the empty goal is perhaps the greatest question since the Pesach 4!! Ben Frieze was unlucky with a long range effort that came back off the bar, but another victory means 3 more points towards the top of the table.

Leeds maccabi U8's were at home to Guiseley & within minutes of kick off soon found themselves behind 1-0. The boys pushed hard and defended well but were still unable to score, after 10 mins of play Reece Freeman came on the pitch & within 3 mins scored bringing the score level, both teams had plently of chances but at half time it was still level. Second half saw a great pass from Reece Freeman to Zac Tobias who found the back of the net. Guiseley fought back hard & with 10 mins to go they scored making it 2-2. With just second to go Guiseley somehow managed to not noce or twice but three times clear the ball of the line & with some great saves from Arron brown through out the game, the final score was 2 - 2 Well done to Arron Brown on man of the match !!

Leeds Maccabi Under 10’s played away at East Bowling for the second time this season. Unlike Maccabi’s narrow 1-0 victory on the opening day, East Bowling started well and scored in the opening 2 minutes. Maccabi responded well and were unfortunate on a number of occasions not to equalise. Jayden Huglin was outstanding in central midfield, controlling and spreading the ball around nicely.East Bowling caught Maccabi on a quick counter to make it 2 – 0 and again Maccabi responded well. Theo Tobias’s deadball’s were causing the East Bowling defence a torrid time and eventually all the pressure paid off with an acute Jayden Huglin pass for Ilan Archibold to scramble home for his first goal of the season. With more mounting pressure towards the end of the half, East Bowling caught Maccabi on the counter to make it 3-1. In the second half, Maccabi controlled the game and again the midfield of Jayden Huglin, Theo Tobias and Alistair Landy provided some great entertaining football. Some tenacious work by Bradley Cohen and Alex Levy in defence managed to keep the opposition quiet and keeper Tommy Gordon made a number of vital saves.Macabbi were awarded a penalty to narrow the gap which was missed and soon after, East Bowling countered to make it 4-1 and despite the hard work of Daniel Ruhan and Ilan Archibold, Maccabi were unable to make up the difference.

U14’s - Knaresborough Celtics 1 – Leeds Maccabi 7
Another convincing performance from Leeds Maccabi Under14’s who if they continue in the same vein are strong contenders for winning the league!A strong start to the game saw Harry Goldstone coolly lob the keeper for our 1st goal. Some terrific confident passing and movement saw Maccabi take control which paid off with a goal mouth scramble finished off by Captain Oliver Myers. Louis Abrahamson and Martin Bowman were strong in midfield and defence respectively and they linked up well throughout the match helping feed the ball to Zack Bambage who finished off the first half with a well deserved goal. The second half started equally as well and with James Berwin and Dan Herschovitz in super form it was pleasing to see Dan finish well with a goal. Noah Bickler and Alex Newman came on to good effect and it was rewarded by a well taken goal by Noah. Noah’s celebration wasn’t as good as his father’s though on the touch line! Ben Frieze was tenacious as ever in midfield and Adam Brown in net was rarely called upon but when he was, as always, he was there for his team! Knaresborough managed to get a goal back with a single piece of magic. This was soon returned as Alex Orbaum and Henry Ableson were tireless and Alex had one of his most energetic games running up and down the wing to great affect. Zack Bambage finished well again and Harry Goldstone finished off a great team performance with a goal in the last minutes. Hopefully the boys can take this superb performance and continue and win the league!!

Maccabi started well against Horsforth, one place above them in the league, but it was the home team which created the clearer chances in the first half, with Benjamin Fingret making some outstanding saves. He was backed up with some very good defending by Joshua Borlant and Man of the Match, Tyler Killen. At half-time the score was 0-0, which is the first time this season where Maccabi had not conceded a goal before the break.Unfortunately, the stalemate was broken by a breakaway goal from Horsforth and Maccabi seemed to be hanging on a bit, until Addi Evans had the chance to equalise with only the keeper to beat he dragged his shot wide of the left upright. Heads seemed to drop slightly and Horsforth once again scored 2 more goals on counter attacks. The last coming towards the end of the match. If it wasn’t for both Benjamin and Tyler the score could have been a lot larger and the team did not fully deserve the final result.

Leeds Maccabi Under 10’s played away at Skipton, last seasons league winners, on a heavy pitch. Maccabi started well with a unusual line up, Alex Levy doing well in a central midfield position, with Jayden Huglin and Theo Tobias on the flanks.Maccabi withstood some early pressure with keeper Harry Tedford soaking up everything the home team through at him. Tobias then finished off an exquisite move, starting deep in the half, made up of a number of one touch passes to make it 1 – 0 to the visitors.Skipton came back strong to even the score by half time.In the second half Maccabi were under an enormous amount of pressure although Joshua Port and Daniel Ruhan played well and kept some pressure off the defence by making some great runs deep into Skiptons half.Unfortunately, Skipton’s quality won then day and they scored twice with no reply from Maccabi to make the final score 3 – 1.

Leeds Maccabi U12 got back to winning ways with a 8 v 1 thrashing of Harrogate Railways B. Dan Vale started the scoring with a cool finish, and Harry Landy’s free kick doubled the lead. Noah Lewis finished off another good move and Vale grabbed a second before the break.
It was more of the same in the second half, Hue Moss picked up a Taylor Saipe pass to finish for number 5, Daniel Green headed in a Ben Ruhan cross for number 6, Lewis scored his second and Saipe completed the scoring with a neat angled shot. Harrogate’s conciliation goal came from the penalty spot as keeper Jesse Gelman upended the Railway striker, Maccabi U12 move to 3rd in the table.

Leeds Maccabi Under 10’s took on the mighty Grassington, top of the league, away, in an absolutely enthralling encounter. To date Maccabi have played Grassington four times and never taken a point. The first half started at a lightening pace with the game stretched both teams attacking and defending like a pair of duelling swordsmen parrying and blocking. The Maccabi defence was outstanding led by keeper Harry Tedford and central defender Alistair Landy, both sharing the ‘Man-of-the-Match' award. Dion Hall and Ben Dunwell were also outstanding in defence and midfield respectively both playing their best ever match for Maccabi. Although the first half was even with both sides goalless, it was obvious that the referee was giving very little in favour of Maccabi. The second half started at the same exciting pace, until Max Adler on the left wing managed to break the deadlock getting on the receiving end of a Jayden Huglin cross to make it 1 – 0 to the visitors. Grassington are top of the league for a reason and came back very strongly, clearly frustrated to find themselves down with a few minutes to go on the clock.Tackles started to fly in, wholly ignored by the ineffective referee. Credit must go to the Maccabi team for playing with absolute dignity and not reacting to the onslaught. One minute to go and Adler was taken out by a home defender with a horror tackle, the type of which the game should never see – the referee waved play on, no free kick! Despite the referee, the Maccabi coach came on to treat the injured player who had to come off. The match was restarted with a drop ball. While Maccabi were still in shock and re organising Grassington managed to secure an ill deserved equaliser with the last kick of the game, in the sixth minute of added ‘Fergie’ time! Jonny Adler, Maccabi Coach, stated after the match, “This type of refereeing is not acceptable at any level, we will be taking the matter further. Our team were amazing and should all be very proud of themselves, this was their best team performance ever and deserved all three points!”

A rather frustrating day today. After a hard journey through the heavy Sunday lunchtime traffic we eventually arrived at Oakworth's ground. After being guided to the carefully concealed entrance, the intrepid band of 8 managed to overcome the next obastacle and navigated their way through some treacherous mud/quicksand designed to trap the unwary. After admiring the spectacular views across Haworth and the surrounding Bronte Country the plucky band of Maccabi supporters who had made the journey settled down for the match. However the team found the opposition in superb form playing some excellent football, hardly missing a tackle and never allowing the Maccabi any time on the ball. Within 25 minutes Oakworth were 5-0 up and pinging the ball about in a fashion which belied their league position. Could this really be the same Oakworth side who lost 7-2 to the Poole B team that we beat 5-0 a week later??? At times it was a bit like the Alamo with Adam Jackson playing the role of Davy Crockett with some heroic defending even after being injured and if it hadn't been for some great goalkeeping from Ben Freeman the scoreline could have been even worse. The final score was 7-0 which gave the Maccabi boys no reward for a fine second half performance when they never let their heads drop and kept trying right up to the final whistle. To their tremendous credit all the boys put in a huge amount of effort and never stopped running. It just was never going to be our day. U12's A depleted U12 lost by a goal for the third game running after a Geoff Hirst type strike won the game in the dying minutes for Boroughbridge. Maccabi, fielding 3 players from the u11s and an injured Louis Richmond, took an early lead going down the hill and were 3 up at half time, goals from a Harry Landy corner, Joseph Dunwell drive from outside the area and a superb lob from Daniel Green, but it should have been more with chances not converted. Boroughbridge were at it straight from the whistle in the second half, and when Landy gave away a penalty, Boroghbridge were back in it and Maccabi were under the cosh. Two more quick strikesby the opposition swung the game back level with minutes to go, then a speculative shot hit the bar and bounced down over the line for a winner. Maccabi almost equalized, but Dan Vale’s shot was saved at the death.

This game was never going to be easy against one of the stronger teams in the league and even
more so when there was only 7 children available.
Every player in the game gave more than 100% and it took Bradford more than 5 minutes before
they scored the first of their goals. It did look one way traffic from there with Maccabi only having
half breaks by Addi Evans and Eddie Harris during the 1st half. Ross Baskind, deputising in goals,
made some great saves to keep the score down to 5 by half-time.
In the second half, once again Bradford pushed forward but if it wasn’t for heroics from Ross and
Tyler Killen the gap would have been even larger. All the kids played their part and got just what
was deserved, a goal from a break by Addi Evans after 12 minutes, which he finished fantastically
in the bottom corner. About 3 minutes later an interception by Sammi Somers set Eddie Harris away
and he cut inside from the left to blast past the keeper. This kept the second half score level at 2
each, before Bradford went on to score their 3rd of the half and 8th of the game. The final whistle
came as Maccabi were attacking and went close to scoring again.
All the coaches were very proud of the effort that all the kids put into today’s game

For the second week in a row the U11's put in an excellent winning performance This week's opponenets were Pool B, a team who had beaten us 5-3 in the corresponding fixture last October. But in another indicator of how far the team has progressed this season they emerged winners by a score of 5-0. The conditions were heavy but the whole team played with a drive and energy which the opponents found overwhelming. Maccabi got off to the best possible start when Jonny Sorkin scored the quickest goal of the season (45 seconds). A well worked Edan Sadeh corner was deftly turned in by Joey Castle at the near post while the defensive unit of Rafi Kleiman, Adam Jackson and Ben Silberstein worked extremely hard to minimise the Poole B offensive threat. In an almost exact copy of last week Maccabi put in a superb second half performance which was all the more impressive due to the lack of any available substitutes and having to play up the famous Brodetsky slope. The high work rate and organisation paid dividends when Edan Sadeh turned in a clever Joey Castle corner from the right. Sorkin's tireless running and support work was rewarded with a fine finish on 53 minutes when he cooly slotted the ball home from 10 yards out. The defense was giving Ben Freeman fine protection but he was commanding his area very well and was called upon to make some good stops. However the best was still to come as one minte later Freeman rolled the ball out to the fleet footed Sadeh on the right wing whose blistering run down the touchline culminated in his cutting inside the Pool left back and thumping the ball home. Wow! What a goal, what a performance. The home supporters left full of cheer after having given excellent vocal support which was probably the equivalent of having an extra man on the pitch. With the team well placed in second place in the league we now look forward to the next fixture which is away to Oakworth A great display

accabi under 8’s were away to Skipton & with a few players off sick & no Subs we were in for a challange. 1st 15 mins the game was level at 0-0 & bang on the stroke of half time Oliver Buck scored. We don’t know what was said at the half time break but Maccabi came out like a set of lions within 2 mins Jack Booth scored followed by Oliver Jacobs and 3 mins before the end Oliver Buck got his second. Well done to our solid defence which kept Elisha very bored & cold in goal. Final score Skipton 0 – Leeds Maccabi 4
Well done to Loui Harris for man of the match

Maccabi once again started briskly and put some nice passing moves together until the 2nd minute, on Bramley’s first attack, Joshua Borlant accidently handled the ball from a corner to give away a penalty. An impressive double save by keeper Benjamin Fingret, from the subsequent spot kick, kept the scores level. Bramley then turn the pressure up and scored not long after. Benjamin made some fine saves to keep the score down in the first half, but could nothing to stop Bramley doubling the lead just before half-time.The second half continued in the same way the first had ended with Bramley over running Maccabi and if it wasn’t for Benjamin and Joshua with desperate saves, clearances and tackles the score would have been much higher.Bramley went on to score 4 more in the second half with 2 coming as own goals which were both very unfortunate. In the final minutes, Maccabi had their only clear cut chance when Addi Evans broke away down the right wing and his shot was brilliantly saved by the Bramley keeper.

On a heavy pitch Leeds Maccabi Under 10’s started at an incredible pace deservedly going 1 – 0 up through Jayden Huglin, playing in central midfield. Huglin was excellent in the first half controlling play, tackling and spraying passes. Up front Max Adler was making a constant nuisance of himself latching on to a scorcher of a shot from defender Alex Levy to make it 2 – 0 to the home side. Levy and defensive partner Tommy Gordon were both excellent protecting keeper Harry Tedford from most things. Captain for the day, Daniel Ruhan, on the left side of midfield played with authority, linking up with Huglin, always making himself available and tackling back for all he was worth. Alistair Landy made it three with a pile-driver of a shot, completely unstoppable, his first for Maccabi. The second half was a different story, Maccabi still working hard, had lost momentum at the break and struggled to get the rhythm back again. Wortley showed why they are in contention for winning the league and came back very strongly. Throughout the half Maccabi wre under enormous pressure losing four goals with no reply.Congratulations to Jayden Huglin and Harry Tedford for their joint man-of-the-match performances.

Another excellent performance from the Maccabi U11's saw them overhaul a spirited Burley Trojans side by 10-5. The whole team performed superbly well captained by Ben Silberstein in central defence ably assisted by Adam Jackson, Jonny Sorkin and Sam Addelman. The first half was constantly end to end with the Maccabi defence being put under some terrific pressure by a confident Burley side. Somewhat against the run of play Noah Lewis scored two fine breakaway goals which saw Maccabi go into the break 2-1 up. The initial part of the second half again saw some fine Burley pressure which led to two quick goals and Maccabi go behind for the first time in the match. But instead of heads and shoulders going down Maccabi raised their game and played with real passion. The tremendous endeavour shown by the midfield trio of Noah Lewis,Joey Castle and Edan Sadeh enabled them to take control of the match. The team got their just reward with Noah Lewis scoring three more(taking his total to 5), Sadeh scoring twice and Benjy Goldstone adding another three to the total. Keeper Ben Freeman was in fine form as usual with some fine stops. A fine game played in fine spirit with the visitors contributing hugely. A really great performance boys, Well done,

The U12s lost narrowly to Harrogate Railway for the second week running. The defence was at sea as Harrogate dominated the opening stages and were 3 v 0 at the interval. Harry Landy hit the bar with his first penalty, and Dan Vale had a number of chances without success . A fight back ensued in the second half, Landy put away his second penalty and Ben Freeman struck late on, but despite constant pressure, the equaliser could not be found.
U14's
A top of the table clash saw Maccabi U14 play superbly well against the league leaders and come away with 3 crucial points in their chase for top spot.
The team battled courageously throughout – Louis Abrahamson was dominant in the first half, Martin Bowman in the second. Adam Brown made a couple of fabulous saves at crucial times when Burley attacked in numbers with speed and accuracy. Against the run of play, Maccabi went ahead when Louis Abrahamson brought out thee ball, played a delightful ball over the defence; Zac Bambage ran onto it and lobbed the keeper superbly from the edge of the area. With some renewed confidence, Maccabi then went 2-0 up when some strong tackling in midfield, led to Ben Frieze laying the ball off for Dan Hirschowitz who stroked the ball home from close range.Burley pulled one goal back from the restart in the 2nd half, and it needed a lot of determination and strength for Maccabi to hold on. A lack of discipline at the back then allowed Burley in for an equaliser and it felt like the remaining 12 minutes would last a lifetime. However, in the next attack, Zac Bambage seemed to have time and courage to dribble past half the Burley team before Harry Goldstone was able to hit a low shot into the corner to seal the win for Maccabi. Zac narrowly missed from a glorious overhead kick, but what a win for Maccabi U14.
U16's
Maccabi U16s returned to winning form with a disciplined performance against Cookridge. Leeds should have gone ahead in the first minute when a long range strike from Abrahamson dropped back from the bar only to be screwed wide by Nick Vale with the goal gaping. With a new 3-5-2 formation Leeds dominated the play, but had to wait til the 30th minute to take the lead when Louie Fisher drove home from 20 yards through a packed penalty area. The lead was doubled in the first minute of the second half when Vale made up for his earlier miss with a smart turn and crisp finish. As the heavy pitch began to take its toll Maccabi scored a well deserved third, Josh Green thumping home to complete a fine move. The last 10 minutes saw Cookridge mount a mini revival to shake Leeds out of their complacency, and a tense finish saw Dunnington and then Lines score in quick succession to leave a nailbiting final 5 minutes. However, the excellent back 3 of Marsay, Richmond & Solomon, in a man of the match performance, saw Leeds desevedly take all the points.
